Star Anise

2 oz.

Star anise is a spice that is native to China and Vietnam. Some potential benefits of star anise include:

Antimicrobial: Star anise contains compounds such as anethole, eugenol, and linalool, which have antimicrobial properties. It has been used in traditional medicine to help combat bacterial, fungal, and viral infections. Star anise tea may help support the immune system and protect against infections.

Digestive Aid: Star anise is commonly used as a digestive aid due to its carminative and antispasmodic properties. It can help alleviate symptoms of indigestion, bloating, gas, and stomach cramps by relaxing the muscles of the digestive tract and promoting healthy digestion.

Respiratory Support: Star anise has been traditionally used to relieve respiratory symptoms such as coughs, congestion, and bronchitis. It contains compounds that may help thin mucus, soothe irritated throat tissues, and reduce coughing.

Antioxidant Activity: Star anise is rich in antioxidants, including flavonoids and phenolic compounds, which may help protect cells from oxidative damage caused by free radicals. Antioxidants support overall health and well-being.

Directions: add one teaspoon of star anise to hot water. Steep for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain and enjoy.
