Winter Rosebud Balm

Winter Rosebud Balm
Property of Clear as Claire Photo Rose

My winter go-to.

Chapped lips, dry elbows and knees. With cold weather comes cranky skin. When December frost starts to kick in, this rose balm is my right hand. I put a little bit on in the morning after my shower and I am set to face the day! One application a day seems to be truly all you need.

A variation of this balm available here

  1. Strain rose infused oil. Look at my calendula infused oil article and just sub calendula flowers for rosebuds.

  2. Pour an inch of water into bottom pot of double boiler. Bring stove to a low heat.

  3. When water simmers, add 1.5 tablespoons of beeswax to double boiler. Add 3 tablespoons cup of rose oil. Stir ingredients together with a whisk until beeswax has fully melted.

  4. Once beeswax has fully melted, allow mixture to cool slightly. Note: you want the mixture to be warm enough that it is still liquid, but cool enough so as not to burn away the medicinal properties of the essential oils. It’s truly a balancing act.

  5. Add in 1 tablespoon of vitamin E oil, and 7-10 drops of tangerine essential oil to mixture. Add 5-10 drops of peppermint essential oil. Peppermint gives it a nice minty kick!

  6. Pour mixture into a measuring cup to easily pour your salve into your tins.

  7. Pour the mixture into the tins, stick them in your fridge for one hour, pop them out and enjoy!
