Soothing Lavender Body Butter
With over 30 different varieties to choose from, lavender has always played a prominent role in beauty. It is anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antibacterial, antispasmodic, balancing, energizing, soothing, healing, toning and stimulating. What makes lavender even more amazing is that is it an adaptogen, meaning it works with your body’s specific needs in order to promote healing.
I’ve been wanting to remake this body butter for a while now. It’s creamy and hydrating and soothing. I massage it onto my legs and arms every night before sleeping and wake up with such soft skin. The lavender relaxes me as well, helping me get a better night’s sleep. It is a simple and effective recipe and I am happy to be sharing it with you. “It smells really good.”- My sister.
Directions
-
Strain lavender infused oil. (check out my infusion process here)
-
Pour an inch of water into bottom pot of double boiler. Bring stove to a low heat.
-
When water simmers, add 3 oz of lavender oil. Add 2 oz of shea butter. Stir ingredients together with a whisk until fully melted together.
-
Once the mixture has fully melted, turn off stovetop and add in 1 oz of rosehip seed oil.
-
Allow the mixture to cool slightly. It should be a semi-firm texture.
-
Once the mixture has cooled, whisk it all together! Add in 5-10 drops of lemon essential oil and 10-12 drops of lavender essential oil. Stir between additions.
-
When the mixture is creamy, add in 1 oz of vitamin E! Stir to combine.
-
Pack the body butter into a container. Enjoy!
